What Is an Iron IV Infusion?
An iron IV infusion is intravenous iron run into a vein through a small line while you sit still. Ours is Venofer, which is iron sucrose, an intravenous iron preparation, given in a saline base by a licensed registered nurse. The drip starts at 500ml, and you can have a full litre at no extra cost. The appointment runs 30 to 45 minutes from the nurse arriving to the nurse leaving.
Iron is a mineral the body uses to make hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen, and it is also used by enzymes involved in energy metabolism inside the cell. That is what iron is and what the body does with it. What a given infusion will do for a given person is a question for the provider who reads your labs, and this page does not answer it.
Two doses are on the menu. 100mg is $399, or $199 for members. 200mg is $599, or $299 for members. Which one you have is set by your provider from your bloodwork, not chosen off a menu, and that is the honest description of how this drip is sold.
This is the one drip on our menu that nobody is given on the basis of how they feel. It requires recent iron studies first, every time, and the section below explains exactly how that works.
Lab Work Comes First, and How That Actually Works
Iron always requires bloodwork before anyone is infused. Your provider needs recent iron studies, including ferritin, to confirm intravenous iron is appropriate for you and to set the dose. Nobody is infused on the basis of symptoms alone, and that is not a formality or a form to sign. It is why we ask for your results before we ask you to pick a time.
We do not run the labs. You get your bloodwork wherever you already go, through your own physician, and you email us the results. What that draw costs depends entirely on where you have it done and what your insurance does with it, so we do not quote a price for it.
If your last iron panel is recent, send it and we will pass it to the provider. If it is old, or if you have never had one, that is the first step and it happens somewhere other than here. Call or text 305-998-0047 and we will tell you exactly which values the provider needs to see, so that you order the right panel once rather than the wrong one twice.
The provider reviews what you send and either approves an infusion at a dose, asks for something else, or says no. Being told no is a normal outcome of this process rather than a failure of it. Iron that is already normal is not improved by adding more, and there are conditions in which the body stores too much iron, in which case intravenous iron is not appropriate and the provider will say so.

What Is in the Iron IV Infusion
Venofer, which is iron sucrose. An intravenous iron preparation. It is a prescription product, given by a nurse, at the dose your provider approved from your labs. We use it because it is the iron preparation our providers are comfortable running in a home setting at these doses over a normal appointment length.
Saline base. Sterile saline, the same hospital-grade fluid used in a clinical setting, carrying the iron into circulation. The bag starts at 500ml, and you can have a full litre at no extra cost.
Nothing else, unless you ask for it. The Iron IV Infusion is deliberately plain. If you want something added, add-on pushes are $49 each, or $24.50 for members, and the nurse can add glutathione, zinc, vitamin C, B12, vitamin D3, biotin, a mineral blend, magnesium chloride, an amino blend, calcium chloride or B complex. Anything added is subject to the same provider approval as the iron itself. We will also build a custom cocktail if you tell us what you want in it, at no charge for the building of it.

What an Iron IV Infusion Does and Does Not Do
It delivers a provider approved dose of intravenous iron into your circulation through a vein, in a saline base, with a registered nurse present for all of it, in your own home. That is the whole of what we are offering and it is worth being precise about the edges of it.
Here is what it is not. It is not a diagnosis. We do not test you, we do not interpret your results for you, and we do not tell you why your iron is low. It does not treat the reason your iron is low, and that reason matters more than the infusion does. Low iron has causes, some of them worth finding, and an infusion does not look for them. Keep that conversation going with your own physician, because an infusion does not tell you where the leak is.
It is not an energy treatment. We do not sell it as one and we will not describe it as one. Iron is used in oxygen transport and in cellular energy metabolism, which is a statement about what the mineral does in the body, not a promise about how you will feel on Thursday. We put an iron drip on the calendar off a ferritin number, not off how a week has gone.
It is not for people whose iron is normal. More iron is not better iron. The body has no easy way to get rid of a surplus, which is exactly why the labs come first and why the provider sometimes says no.
It is not an emergency service. Severe anemia, active bleeding, chest pain, breathlessness at rest or fainting belong in a hospital, not in a living room. If that is what is happening, call 911 or go to an emergency department. We will say that on the phone rather than take the booking.
It is not a course of care. We give the infusion your provider approved. How many you need, at what interval, and whether your numbers moved afterwards are all things that are decided by bloodwork and by a physician, not by us and not by this page.
How an Iron IV Infusion Appointment Works
1. Book. Once your labs are approved, we schedule. Pick a time and tell us where you will be. Home, hotel, office or boat are all normal. Nothing is due at booking. Tell us anything relevant while you are there, including medical conditions, medications and allergies, and if you are in a building with a doorman or a gate, add the entry details so the nurse can reach you without calling up from the lobby. Cancellations need 4 hours of notice, and groups of two or more need 8.
2. Your telehealth exam, once a calendar year. Before your first drip of the year, a nurse practitioner reviews and approves it on a short telehealth call, about 5 minutes. You may see it called a good faith exam. It is the step that makes this a clinical service rather than a delivery, and it is the same call whichever drip you book. It happens at the start of your appointment. It is a separate $39 charge, once per calendar year rather than every time you book, and members do not pay it. If you have already had it this year, you skip this step.
3. Your appointment. The nurse arrives with everything in a case. They check your blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation before anything is placed, go through your history with you, and answer whatever you want to ask. Then the line goes into a vein in your arm or the back of your hand, the Iron IV Infusion runs, and the nurse stays with you for all of it rather than placing the line and leaving. The appointment runs 30 to 45 minutes from the nurse arriving to the nurse leaving. Most people take it on the sofa or in bed, reading or working. Every nurse carries an emergency kit: an epinephrine auto injector, a pulse oximeter, a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, a charged phone and an anaphylaxis card.
4. Afterwards. The nurse takes the line out, packs everything up and leaves with it. There is nothing to return and nothing to clean up. You pay after the appointment, and we accept HSA and FSA. Tips are never expected, and if you leave one it goes to your nurse.
